Maiden Rock Apples is visited by many tours throughout the year.
Call or email to schedule your group. We welcome school, daycare, church and other groups for special tours of the orchard. Each orchard tour is customized for the group, and may include a short discussion about our what we grow, our cultivation methods, and opportunities to pick your own apples, pumpkins, gourds and squash. Examples are given below:
For several elementary school groups, for instance, we organized a Pumpkin Pick where the guided tour included a short discussion about our Giant Pumpkins as well as other varieties of pumpkins and gourds. They picked their own pumpkin for carving, decorating, or cooking; visited our Skunk Hollow Maze; went on a Wagon Ride; and played Pumpkin Golf, Pumpkin Bowling, and other Fun & Games selected by the tour planners to make their tour an exciting time for all!
Groups of junior and senior high science students the guided tour included a short discussion about the Science of Apples. They had an Apple Tasting to determine their favorite variety. Then they divided into small groups to survey the orchard operation in terms of Land Use, Conservation Practices, Cultivation Methods, and Pest Management. They reported in the large group what they learned and received their favorite apple to enjoy with new appreciation!
